Ayeyarwaddy International Industrial Port

Since the British Colonial era, CITY PATHEIN’S PORT WAS THE VERY FIRST PORT OF BURMA. Lying at the western edge of the Ayeryarwaddy River delta, on the Pathein River, Pathein is accessible to large vessels and it is the most important delta port outside of Yangon.

One of the key factors that distinguishes the Pathein Industrial Project (PIP) as a premier investment endeavor in Myanmar is the Ayeyarwaddy International Industrial Port (AIIP).

Situated in a strategically advantageous location, the AIIP is a pivotal hub connecting major cities across Myanmar, including Pathein, via land and road networks. Furthermore, its accessibility via waterways enhances its connectivity options. Presently, the AIIP facilitates the exportation of significant quantities of rice, beans, corn, and garment products to foreign markets annually, solidifying its status as one of the most advanced industrial ports within the Irrawaddy Region.

The Ayeyarwaddy International Industrial Port (AIIP), situated within the Pathein Industrial Project (PIP), boasts robust connectivity not only with neighboring countries such as Thailand and Bangladesh but also with domestic cities. The comprehensive infrastructure including a four-lane highway facilitating efficient transportation of cargo and trucks, complemented by a port catering to waterway arrivals renders it an accessible location for domestic transportation networks

The very first port of Myanmar by British colonials, pathein port which is within and hour driving range from PIP is the most important port outside Yangon.

Future Development Plan

PIP Port (AIIP) River Improvement Plan = DWT 10,000 – DWT 20,000

  • The region also has deep sea port development plans in Nga Yoke Kaung area which is located southwest of Pathein City and 102 km from PIP.
  • Once this deep sea port is finished, Pathein will be easily accessible to international vessels.
